Selema is a leading Italian manufacturer of drives with integrated mechatronic solutions having nominal currents ranging from 0.5 A. to 40 A and voltages from 230 Vac to 400 Vac for brushless, AC brushless, linear and torque motors. The range of brushless and AC brushless motors comprises torques between 0.16 Nm and 48 Nm, along with linear and torque motors and motors with integrated electronics. The Company Quality System is certified to UNI EN ISO 9001-2000. Selema specialises in manufacturing drives with integrated-mechatronic-motion solutions for various types of automation, in particular: bending brakes, punch presses, laser-cutting machines, cutting tables, vertical and horizontal packing machines, blow moulders, injection moulders, palletisers, knitting machines, extruders, textile machinery, die-cutting machines, labelling machines, coil winders, wrapping machines. Selema's streamlined, independent organisation enables it to establish a dialogue with its customers and take on the role of a true partner, making its skills and knowledge available to allow joint research and development of the best solution. Using state-of-the-art technology, Selema designs all its own products in two laboratories; one in Bologna for Research and Development and the other dealing solely with advanced research in Belluno. Furthermore, the printed circuits required for product realization are manufactured in-house. This setup enables the company to offer high-performance products whilst keeping prices competitive. Selema operations are split into two divisions, Automation and Printed Circuits, with separate but adjoining works extending over a total covered area of 3000 square metres. The Automation Division concentrates on drive manufacture, producing around 6000 units a year. The activities taking place within this division include hardware and software design, functional qualification testing, electromagnetic compatibility testing and certification of prototypes and acceptance tests (functional test and 72-hour in-circuit, thermal, optical analysis and burn-in tests). Originally set up to meet the internal requirements of the automation division, the Printed-Circuit Division is now open to the market as a whole, offering technological solutions and materials capable of meeting the most exacting requirements. In the near future, the company headquarters just outside Bologna will be extended with the construction of another building of 1000 square metres that will be used partly as office space and partly as a manufacturing facility. Selema generates 80% of its sales by working for Italian customers who export their machines all over the world. The company's domestic business employs a network of qualified dealers and system integrators, whilst after-sales assistance and technical support is provided directly from its headquarters. Selema has also firmly established itself in foreign markets (in particular Turkey and Argentina) and its partners offer sales and technical support in Germany, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and Spain. There are plans to open a sales office in China in the near future. Founded in 1978, Selema is a solid organisation, also as a result of its financial self-sufficiency. Indeed, 80% of capital is owned by people working within the business.
